e-Filing step by step on MyTax (YA 2025)
Updated: 8 November 2026 Independently fact-checked.
What is MyTax and e-Filing?
MyTax is HASiL's official tax services portal (mytax.hasil.gov.my). e-Filing is the method of submitting the Income Tax Return Form (BN) online via MyTax — replacing paper forms.
For YA 2025, HASiL has made the submission of the BN mandatory using online services (e-Filing) through MyTax for forms that have e-Filing facilities. This includes Forms E, BE, B, M, BT, MT, P, TF, TJ and TP. (Source: HASiL — Media Statement 28 Feb 2026; HASiL — BN Filing Program 2026.)
Before you start: what do you need?
- Tax Identification Number (TIN) — citizens and permanent residents aged 18 and above are registered automatically by HASiL; otherwise, register via e-Daftar at MyTax. (Source: HASiL — Individual FAQ.)
- Digital Certificate (Sijil Digital) — required for access to the e-forms. The digital certificate is valid 3 years; new users must register the digital certificate first. Renew by clicking "Setuju" on the message displayed in MyTax when the certificate approaches expiry. (Source: HASiL — e-Filing Made Easy 2026.)
- Identification number — from 1 Mac 2026, the Identity Card Number is set as the identification number for MyTax access for MyKad/MyPR/MyKAS holders. (Source: HASiL — Media Statement 28 Feb 2026.)
Step 1: Activate your MyTax account
If this is your first login and you do not yet have a digital certificate, the system will display the message "Sijil Digital tidak wujud". There are two methods to proceed with digital certificate registration:
- e-CP55D — application on the web; or
- e-KYC — facial identity recognition on the mobile app.

Step 2: Log in and choose the form according to your category
Log in to MyTax, then choose the form type according to your category:
| Category | Form |
|---|---|
| Resident individual who does not carry on a business | e-BE |
| Resident individual who carries on a business | e-B |
| Non-resident individual / knowledge worker | e-M, e-BT, e-MT |
| Employer / employer's representative | e-E, e-C.P.8D |
| Company director / organisation administrator or representative | e-P, e-TF, e-TJ |
| Estate administrator | e-TP |
| Tax agent (note) | TAeF version 2.0 (not an ordinary e-form) |
(Source: HASiL — Media Statement 28 Feb 2026; HASiL — BN Filing Program 2026.)
Step 3: Fill in the e-form (check pre-filled data)
- Open your e-form (e.g. e-BE or e-B).
- Check the pre-filled data loaded by the system — for salaried employees, this data usually comes from your employer's Form EA/EC.
- Complete any missing information, including relief claims you are entitled to. Keep evidence (receipts, statements) for each claim.

Step 4: Digital signature, submit and keep the confirmation
- Digitally sign your e-form and click Hantar (Submit).
- The return form is deemed successfully submitted when the e-Form Receipt Confirmation (Pengesahan Penerimaan e-Borang) display appears. Save or print this confirmation slip as proof.

Important deadlines — YA 2025 (filing 2026)
| Form | Basic deadline | e-Filing extension |
|---|---|---|
| e-E (employer) | 31 Mac 2026 | — |
| e-BE (individual, no business) | 30 April 2026 | until 15 Mei 2026 |
| e-B (individual, carrying on a business) | 30 Jun 2026 | until 15 Julai 2026 |
| Other forms (e-M, e-MT, e-BT, e-TP, e-TF, e-P, e-TJ, e-TR) | per the BN Filing Program 2026 schedule | per schedule |
Important:
- If you submit on 16 Mei 2026 (e-BE) or 16 Julai 2026 (e-B), the BN is deemed received late from 1 Mei / 1 Julai 2026 — and penalties may apply.
- Online dates are "subject to the BN Filing Program" — re-check every year before publication.
- YA 2026 deadlines (filing 2027): the BN Filing Program 2027 has not been published by HASiL at the review date — do not use any 2027 dates. This item still awaits official confirmation from HASiL — check again with HASiL before deciding.

What happens if I file late?
Failure to submit the BN may lead to action under subsection 112(1) of the Income Tax Act 1967 (ACP): a fine of RM200 to RM20,000, or imprisonment not exceeding 6 months, or both.
For lateness ≤ 12 months after the deadline, a penalty of 15% applies under subsection 112(3). (Source: HASiL — Media Statement 28 Feb 2026.)
Mistakes after filing — can I correct them?
- The return form cannot be submitted more than once for a year of assessment.
- Corrections are made via written appeal / Amended Return Form (Borang Nyata Terpinda) to the HASiL office handling your file — not via MyTax.
- Even if PCB (monthly tax deduction) has been deducted by your employer, you still need to submit the BNCP — unless you are under PCB muktamad (final PCB).
