What is CP204?

Form CP204 is the Form of Estimate of Tax Payable. Companies, limited liability partnerships (PLT), trusts and cooperatives are required to submit this form in each year of assessment and pay the estimated tax according to the prescribed schedule. It is an estimate — not a final return.

Who must submit?

  • Companies, PLT, trusts and cooperatives (R1).
  • Filing via e-Filing under subsection 107C(7A) ACP: companies from Year of Assessment 2018; PLT, trusts and cooperatives from Year of Assessment 2019 (via TAeF/OeF with a digital certificate) (R1).

Submission period

  • Operating company: not later than 30 days before the beginning of the basis period for a year of assessment — subsection 107C(2) ACP (R1, R5).
  • Newly operating company: if the first basis period is not less than six (6) months, e-CP204 is submitted within three (3) months from the date operations begin — paragraph 107C(4)(a) ACP; the minimum requirement (subsection 107C(3)) applies only from the second year of assessment (R1, R5).
  • New SME company is exempt from submitting an estimate under subsection 107C(4A) ACP (R4).

Payment schedule

Instalment payments of the estimated tax are made according to the schedule — subsection 107C(5) ACP (operating companies) and 107C(6) ACP (new companies); instalments are paid on or before the 15th day of each month (Tax Collection Framework; GPO 1/2021) (R2, R5).

Amending the estimate (CP204A)

Form CP204A is used to amend the estimate; amendments may be made (among others) in the 6th and/or 9th month under subsection 107C(7) ACP (R2). This step is also consistent with Public Ruling No. 4/2025 (change of accounting period cases) (R3).

Failure to submit

If an estimate is not submitted, the KPHDN will determine the amount of the tax estimate (deemed amount — subsection 107C(3) ACP) and issue an Instalment Payment Notice (CP205); payments directed under subsection 107C(8) ACP are deemed to be an amendment of the estimate (R1, R5).

Tax increase (10%)

  • 10% under subsection 107C(9) ACP for failure to make instalment payments (R2, R3).
  • 10% under subsection 107C(10) ACP if the difference between actual tax and the (amended) estimate exceeds 30% of the actual tax — formula: [(CS − AC) − (30% × CS)] × 10%, where CS = actual tax, AC = amended estimate (R2, R3, R4 note (f)).

Relationship with Form C

CP204 is an estimate; Form C is the company's final return (see the Form C guide). The difference between actual tax and the estimate can lead to the 10% increase above.
